First things first, you must find a reliable and professional moving service. Anyone can own a truck and move your possessions but very few can move a house well enough to keep everything safe and secure. Check referrals on companies’ websites and see what others have to say about them. Are their workers friendly? Cautious? Quick but proficient? A quality moving company with a quality crew can make the worst moving situation into a stress free experience

  1. Color code your things with corresponding rooms. This is a good way to speed up your moving day because a lot of time can be wasted trying to figure out where everything goes. For example, mark the master bedroom with a blue sticker then place a blue sticker on everything that belongs in the Master. This tip speeds up the moving process and allows you to sit back, relax and watch the movers get to work.
  2. Be prepared and organized. Nothing will cause hysteria like being half packed on the day of your move so make sure that your whole house is packed and ready to go. Also make sure not to have important documents/items mixed in with your things. The last thing you want is finding out your keys to the new place are buried somewhere deep in the truck.
  3. Take a picture of the back of your electronics. A problem people have with electronics is that they set up their TVs, computers, etc. years ago and remembering which cord goes where can be difficult. An easy solution to a quick re-set up is taking a photo of the back of your electronics so when you’re all moved in, you can quickly set up the TV to catch your favorite show.
  4. Pack solid boxes. The last thing you want on your moving day is all your boxes getting crumbled because of empty space within them. Fill any extra space of a box with packing paper to make them solid and sturdy. The more solid and firm a box, the less chance of something inside getting broken.

Moving doesn’t need to be a stressful endeavor! Good Luck!
